Three evacuation supplies containers delivered in Powell River

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – The qathet Regional District’s Regional Emergency Preparedness Service has delivered three new evacuation supplies containers.

The containers have been installed at the Tla’amin Salish Centre, the Powell River Recreation Complex, and the Texada Island Community Hall.

The containers hold important supplies and equipment to support reception centres or group lodgings in the event of a major disaster or emergency.

The development of the three containers is a part of the ongoing regional evacuation planning, a collaboration between the City of Powell River, Tla’amin Nation and the qathet Regional District.

The containers were supported with $75,000 from the provincial government, made available through the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Community Emergency Preparedness Fund.
