UPDATE: Missing dog found safe in Powell River

POWELL RIVER, B.C. – The search for a missing rescue dog new to Powell River has ended on a happy note.

Four year old Brussels-griffon cross Princess went missing last Wednesday, according to Sherri Wiebe.

Wiebe had been bringing the rescue to her new home in Powell River from Abbotsford, when she ran off.

She noted that hundreds of residents searched on foot for Princess, to no avail. Fortunately, the pup was found Tuesday morning.

“Yesterday (Monday) afternoon, a lady was going through the lower McGuffie Trail and she actually heard her (Princess) crying. We went there last night and we couldn’t hear it,” Wiebe said.

“So we went back this morning, and we brought (our other) dog, and we could hear her barking. We couldn’t locate her, so I pulled a guy off the trail, that had two dogs, and those two dogs ran in at the bottom of the bank and found her. The guy pulled her out, and they walked her up the bank and we met them on Harvie Avenue.”

Wiebe said Princess was unharmed, and did not appear to be shaken up.

“She was not even wet … just like back to normal,” Wiebe noted.

She said she’s looking forward to getting to know the dog better, and bring her to her new home.
