MLA questions province’s priorities

Questions are being raised about the province’s priorities for shelter funding, after word a homeless man died on the Sunshine Coast on a night there were no shelter beds open.

The only homeless shelter in the region is a fall and winter Extreme Weather Emergency Shelter… which only gets money from BC Housing to open some nights.

Powell River Sunshine Coast MLA Nicholas Simons says the community is being let down by the province.

Simons says he met just recently with the Housing Minister to try to get more money… and he’s hopeful Rich Coleman is taking the issue seriously.
