Conservation officers looking into 2 cases of elk poaching

Conservation officers are looking for information on 2 cases involving the illegal harvest of elk in the Comox Valley.

Officer Jon Paquin says the first incident happened on the morning of January 10th.

He says a large bull elk was killed in a cut block off the Duncan Bay Main between Forbidden Plateau Road and Strathcona Parkway.

The second incident took place this past weekend, about 5 kilometres north of Roberts Lake. A female elk was killed in a cut block just off the highway.

Paquin says the Roosevelt Elk hunt is highly regulated and it’s also concerning that the animals were left to rot after being killed. Anyone with any information is asked to contact conservation officers and officials through the Report All Poachers and Polluters hotline.
