Ferries preparing for BC Bike Race traffic

BC Ferries is preparing to welcome hundreds of cyclists over the next week as the BC Bike Race gets underway. The 7-day race involves stops in communities across the coast, including Powell River and Cumberland.

Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall says it’s the 10th year of the bike race. She says there are about 600 participants taking part. They will travel to Cumberland, then over to Powell River, down the Sunshine Coast and eventually make a visit to Whistler.

Marshall notes they have added an extra sailing on the Comox – Powell River run to accommodate the cyclists.
