Lund Community Centre addition one step closer with additional donations

An extra $15,000 in pledged donations will help bring an addition to the Lund Community Centre.

A total $115,000 has been pledged in donations, according to the qathet Regional District. This will be added to nearly $4.2 million in funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure program and $538,000 from the Northside Community Recreation Service Area.

The total cost of the addition is estimated to cost between $4 million and $5.7 million, according to the district.

The district says they have also facilitated an alternate approval process in the Northside Community Recreation Service Area to borrow up to $1.1 million from the Municipal Finance Authority of BC over 30 years. They add the donations will reduce the final amount they have to borrow.

Next steps on the project will be given to staff for the March 22 board meeting.

More information about the project can be found on the regional district’s website.
