Powell River announces new interim chief administrative officer

The City of Powell River is officially welcoming a new interim chief administrative officer.

Tom Day has spent 25 years as a chief administrative officer and has over three decades of experience in local government, according to the city.

The announcement comes following Alex Bjelica and Chris Jackson previously filling in as interim officer, with Jackson having replaced Russell Brewer who had held the position since 2018.

Mayor Ron Woznow says he and council thank them for the work they put in.

“We are pleased that Tom has agreed to bring his extensive experience and leadership in local government,” says Woznow.

“Council looks forward to his guidance and assistance in the hiring of a permanent CAO, developing a new strategic plan for the city and streamlining council meetings.”

The decision officially came into effect yesterday.
