One person is dead after a weekend fire on Texada Island.
Texada RCMP and island fire departments were dispatched to the home on Gillies Bay Road around 4 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the fire was fought for several hours.
One person died in the fire – their identity has not been released.
An investigator with the Office of the Fire Commissioner came to the scene over the weekend.
The investigator concluded the fire was accidental and there was nothing criminal in nature related to the fire.
An investigation is ongoing with help from the BC Coroners Service.
