Rocco the Lion mascot costume stolen from rec centre

If you see Rocco the Lion around town, call the police – part of the hockey team mascot’s costume was stolen this week.

On Wednesday morning around 11 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a break and enter at the Powell River Recreation Complex. Police say an exterior door had been pried open to gain access to the building.

Once inside the thieves cut the lock off a storage locker and stole part of Rocco’s costume. Rocco the lion is the mascot for the Powell River Kings hockey team.

They also took several helmets, Gatorade bottles and towels.

Anyone with information about the crime should call Powell River RCMP’s non-emergency line at 1-604-485-6255, or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
