The BC Conservation Officer Service is asking people to make sure fruit trees are picked promptly.
Deputy Chief Chris Doyle says the number of human-wildlife conflicts has gone up significantly in the last month. He says in August, over 3800 conflicts were reported. He says one of the major attractants is ripe fruit.
Doyle says if bears are regularly fed, they can become habituated to the area.
Doyle says the Conservation Officer Service is also asking people to keep an eye out for others feeding bears and to report that activity immediately to conservation officers.
