Powell River receives two new buses to serve rural areas

Two new buses are being welcomed into the city to help create more reliable service for transit riders.

According to BC Transit, both buses are 26-foot long, light-duty buses that can seat up to 18 passengers and provide two mobility aids, such as wheelchairs.

The total cost for both buses was $451,904, however, they add it was cost-shared through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. The city adds the buses are paid for by BC Transit and the city is responsible for its operations.

Buses are equipped with a white LED destination sign that shows the bus number, route name and destination, according to BC Transit.

The interiors have vinyl seating and better interior lighting for the commuting experience.

Three other buses were introduced earlier in the year, and they all replaced aging buses in the fleet.
