First responders mark Remembrance Day

Today is a day to remember our veterans and to salute our current military members.

Today is Remembrance Day. Powell River Deputy Fire Chief Rocky Swanson says it’s also a day that means a lot to first responders-whether they be paramedics, fire fighters or police.

Swanson says many first responders – including himself – served in the armed forces. He notes paying respect to the fallen on this one day of the year is very important to firefighters.

Swanson says fire crews will be participating in the Remembrance Day activities today. Events are taking place at cenotaphs across the country.
