COS advises residents to flag fences to protect wildlife

Conservation Officers are reminding people to make sure fences are flagged to help protect wildlife.

Deputy Chief of the BC Conservation Officer Service Chris Doyle says COs have received several complaints of deer entangled in fencing, including one where the animal died from stress.

He notes in another incident, a CO was injured while helping a deer.

Doyle notes animals can also get entangled in material like sports netting, so it’s important that things like volleyball nets are also clearly flagged.
