Kings Hockey Club Society seeking community funding to ensure team can play next season

While the Powell River Kings are up for sale, the team’s Powell River Kings Hockey Club Society is exploring ways to ensure the club can play in the British Columbia Hockey League next season.

The society has set a March 29, 2026, deadline to find new ownership. If no buyer is secured, a contingency plan will be implemented.

“To secure next season without new ownership, the Kings have presented a contingency plan that will require 100-150 supporters each purchasing a $1,000 season pass for 2026-27,” the team said in a social media post.

If new ownership is found by the deadline, all funds raised will be refunded to contributors.

Supporters who purchase the pass will receive priority seating, playoff ticket options, a Kings T-shirt and a 15 per cent merchandise discount.

Participants will also be entered into a cash draw if 75 or more people sign up, with prizes of $3,000, $1,500 and $500.

Anyone interested in becoming a supporter can visit the team’s website or send an e-transfer to dop@powellriverkings.com
