City of Powell River hosting candidate information session for 2026 general election

Powell River residents interested in running in the 2026 general local election are invited to attend an in-person candidate information session.

The City of Powell River said the sessions are open to anyone considering running for office with the city or the qathet Regional District.

“The sessions will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of elected officials, the nomination process, and resources available to prospective candidates,” said a news release from the city. “Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what serving in local government involves.”

The sessions will be held Aug. 11 and Aug. 12 in council chambers at City Hall. Both begin at 5:30 p.m.
