Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast rolls through Powell River Sunday

The Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast will make a stop in Powell River on Sunday.

The eight-day, 800-kilometre ride brings together law enforcement and emergency services personnel to raise money for childhood cancer research and support programs.

Riders will visit communities and schools along the route through the Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast and Powell River.

The tour began Friday, Sept. 11, in Vancouver and will return to Vancouver for its final leg Friday, Sept. 18.

“Through the dedication of riders, volunteers, donors and community members, Cops for Cancer is advancing research, supporting families at every stage of their cancer experience and helping create a future where no child faces cancer alone,” said a statement from Powell River RCMP.

In Powell River, a Cops for Cancer spaghetti dinner will be held Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Powell River Town Centre.

The event is hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society, Powell River Fire Rescue and Powell River RCMP.
