Fire department praises patience of residents during weekend incident

The deputy chief of the Powell River fire department is thanking the public for their patience during a motor vehicle accident response on Sunday.

Rocky Swanson says a family was involved in the incident on Wildwood Hill, and the rescue caused a major traffic back-up, with 100 of cars on the road.

“Nobody tried to get around us in fits of anger or rage…it was a real moment where I saw a community doing what was exactly desired…everyone gave us space to do what we had to do,” he says.

Swanson says the rescue took about an hour, and the patients were sent to hospital. The current condition of the individuals is not know at this time.

Swanson says he was able to speak to members of the public that were on scene and thank them for their help and patience during the weekend rescue.
