Tour de Coast raises more than $620,000

SUNSHINE COAST, B.C. – It was another successful year for the Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast.

The annual event helps raise funds for cancer research and to send kids battling the disease to Camp Goodtimes. This year’s event featured 28 riders traveling across the Sunshine Coast and Lower Mainland for the cause.

Spokesperson Ninon Daubigeon said they exceeded their fundraising goal. The initial goal was $525,000 and the event ended up collecting $623,232.

“We couldn’t have done it without the community support, all the schools and the riders, agencies and everyone that came together to make it happen,” she said.

Powell River RCMP member Pete Gaiger took part in the event this year and was the top individual fundraising, collecting $15,581.
