School District receives funding for student transportation services

The Powell River School District is receiving $91,000 to help with student transportation services.

The province introduced the Student Transportation Fund to help districts, especially those in rural areas, manage student transportation costs.

Districts had to submit plans to the Ministry on how the funding would be used in order to receive the money.

Powell River will receive more than $91,000, which will be used to maintain the current high-level bus service, fund an additional bus route for students with disabilities, and provide transportation for elementary students to attend after school programs at another school.
