Powell River city council has approved moving forward with a purchase offer for Lot 450.
City CAO Mac Fraser says the $800,000 offer is included in the draft financial plan for the city.
He says the goal of purchasing the land is to give the city more control over what will happen to the land. “It’s an important piece of property – we’ve got our Millennium Park…we’ve got Willingdon Beach Park, the Brooks High School…it’s a core that’s very important to us and we think will be important even more in the future for the city,” he says.
Fraser notes there are no specific plans for the lot yet.
The city budget needs to be passed by May 15th.
