The Emergency Notification System is being tested today, Wednesday May 3rd.
The system sends out alerts to residents who have signed up to receive the notifications.
Ryan Thoms with the Powell River Regional District says the system was introduced and first tested last fall.
He says the goal is to do a test twice a year to make sure everything is working as it should and to ensure staff are trained to use it.
Thoms notes that if you have signed up for notifications and do not receive one during this test, it’s important to let the regional district know so staff can be sure the system is working properly.
