City applies for funding towards new liquid waste system

The city of Powell River is applying for grant funding for its new liquid waste system.

Mayor Dave Formosa says council approved the submission of two applications to the UBCM Strategic Priorities Fund for Capital Infrastructure Projects.

“We applied for 2 grants to run the piping from the old facility in Westview, the one that’s existing today out into the townsite, and from the lagoon in Wildwood right down to the new location in townsite.”

Formosa notes the design for the new facility has already been completed and the city is hopeful to hear back on the grants soon.
