Busy weekend for Powell River RCMP

It was a busy weekend for Powell River RCMP after two robberies, an attempted robbery and a case of mischief in less than 48 hours.

Police were first called out to the parking area of Inland Lake on Saturday, after someone sprayed bear spray into a vehicle.

Around 7 am Sunday, police were called out to an emergency hold-up alarm activation at a store on Manson Avenue. An unknown male suspect entered the store and grabbed cash from the register. Police dog services and the RCMP helicopter were called into help try and track down the suspect, but he was not found.

He is described as about 5-feet tall, wearing mostly black, with sunglasses, a black balaclava, and black gloves.

Police say later that day – around 2 pm – they were called to an attempted robbery at a liquor store on Yew Street. A suspect tried to open the cash register but was unable to get in – he fled on foot toward Dwight Hall.

That suspect is described as 5-foot-8, medium build, wearing a black touque, black ski jacket, and black pants.

The third incident took place early Monday morning.

Police were called back to the same store on Manson Avenue to a report of glass breaking and voices. An unknown quantity of cigarettes was stolen. Witnesses describe seeing a male dressed in black pants and a black hoodie.

Powell River RCMP is looking for information on all of these cases.

If you have any information that might help with the investigation, contact the detachment or Crimestoppers.
