Kings season comes to an end in loss against Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – That’s a wrap on the season for the Powell River Kings.

They lost 2-1 in game five of the BCHL semi-final series against the Prince George Spruce Kings on Thursday night. No goals were scored during the course of the game’s first two periods.

At the 12:16 mark of the final frame, Kyle Kawamura scored an unassisted goal to put Powell River up 1-0. Prince George defenseman Dylan Anhorn scored at the 18:28 to save the game for the Spruce Kings.

The matchup was sent into overtime, and at the 8:06 mark, Spruce King captain Kyle Johnson scored on Matteo Paler-Chow off an assist from Ethan de Jong and Layton Ahac to seal the deal for Prince George.

P.G. won the series four games to one.

The Spruce Kings now move on to the 2018 BCHL Fred Page Cup final against the Wenatchee Wild, who defeated the Trail Smoke Eaters in the Interior Division final.

The final series starts on Friday at the Town Toyota Center, home of the Wild.
