Fire fighters from across Powell River are taking part in training courses to improve their skills and knowledge.
Powell River Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Rocky Swanson says several members of the department recently completed the Attack Team Leaders course. Swanson says the course trained members on the science of smoke and flame and what dangers to look for when entering a burning building.
Swanson says the training helps to keep crews safe when they go out on a call.
He says the course is essential for fire fighters to meet training standards and to ensure crew stay safe while fighting a blaze.
