New committee looking at issue of emergency shelter space

A new committee has been formed to look at the issue of emergency shelter space in Powell River.

There currently is no emergency shelter for the homeless in the community.

City Councillor Maggie Hathaway says the cold weather this year has shown the need to have a place for people to go to stay safe and warm.

The committee is expected to meet within the next week to begin looking at options for emergency shelter space.
