Two new developments have received the go-ahead from Powell River City Council, including a new seniors housing facility.
Coastal Winds Village is going in on Joyce, and will have 75 units. Councillor Karen Skadsheim says it’s a type of housing that is lacking in the community right now.
“There really isn’t a lot of that stock [available] for seniors of that type of housing stock…it’s a great location and it will be good to feed that development going forward,” she says.
Council also approved the development permit for the new Coast Guard Search and Rescue Station.
That is going in on the former barge facility.
